About The Position

As the Credit Risk Manager your role will be to identify and quantify potential risk factors and design data-based strategy solutions to optimize portfolio performance. This includes, but is not limited to:   

  • Performing highly complex research, quantitative analysis, modeling, and monitoring of the company's credit, collateral, and customer performance.
  • Assisting in the development of new acquisitions strategies, and ongoing analysis to optimize existing ones.
  • Responsible for scorecard development; strategy design or adjustments; performance monitoring, and/or credit policy modification.
  • Responsible for the evaluation, development, recommendation and implementation of current and state of the art risk management strategies using systems such as SAS, SQL, R and Python.
  • Conducting comprehensive analyses to assess levels of portfolio credit risk- including summarizing results with opinions and recommendations for actions.  Evaluate and assess the adequacy of internal processes and reduce all forms of exposure ranging from credit risk, efficiency/cost and regulatory impact.
  • Areas of focus include, but not limited to: credit scoring systems, acquisitions and portfolio management strategy/criteria design, vintage analysis and forecasting, portfolio segmentation, demographic analysis, portfolio loss forecasting and modeling to maximize risk/reward trade-off.
  • Develop, clearly recommend, and assist with the implementation of business strategies to manage credit risk, increase revenues, and reduce exposure to credit losses.
  • Assisting in marketing analytics such as identifying cause-effect relationships between marketing actions and financial outcomes to raise profitability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Expected Method of Execution

  • Data extraction, preparation and database management
  • Quantitative, statistical performance evaluation of strategies and processes
  • Design of new scoring models and strategies
  • Meetings with Senior Management to communicate findings. 

Work is accomplished through the use data mining techniques across several large internal and external databases. Analysis is conducted using a number of statistical techniques ranging from linear/logistic regression modeling, Means Testing, Goodness of Fit Testing, Population stability monitoring as well as several specialized techniques for segmentation and strategy building (CART/CHAID)


What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Marketing, Finance or other related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in Financial Services, Banking or a related field.
  • Experience in Consumer Lending is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: SAS, SQL, R, Python.
  • Experience in Risk Management techniques including scorecard development and validation or portfolio analysis.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills with an ability to identify opportunities and develop solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral & written and ability to lead meetings and produce concise presentations
